I had no plans of updating my blog for some time, as I said in my last post. But something in the papers today forced me to add a post. In case you are among the new high-bred generation for whom “newspaper” means just Delhi Times and the sports section, click here to get the article on TOI.
A husband tries to rape his wife, that too along a friend? Where has the human morality reached? More specifically, where has the human male’s morality reached? Have we stooped so low that we have forgotten fundamentals of human civility? This man tried to rape his wife with a friend of his in his car. And according to HT, he then pushed her off the moving car and called her parents and asked them to pick her up. Should not such people be hanged? Or taken to a public place and stoned to death? Before you vehemently nod you head in a frantic yes, I want to add one thing more.
Suppose the woman is lying? That is, what if nothing of that sort happened and she is falsely trying to implicate her husband?
Aghast? Astonished? Surprised? You never thought on that lines, did you? Now under no circumstances am I telling that something of this sort happened here, but however low I think of the male kind, I can’t think someone educated could do something like that And I’m not just talking about civility or moral values or something. How can someone do something that is so fuckingly foolish, in such a foolish manner something that is bound to put him behind bars for good. Not only he tries to rape his wife, that too in a car but he brings along a friend too. Then he throws her off the moving car and calls her parents and tells them to pick her up. How fucking foolish is that? Who will do that? No one in sane mind for sure. Something like that will guarantee you a place behind jails with 24 hours. Even an uneducated jhuggi-wala knows that. Under all probability the incident may be true, but I'm having serious doubts about it.
Which brings me to the point of the topic. As I said, the above case might be correct or false, that is a separate matter. What concerns me the most is how readily one believes such stories. Where you not filled with anguish and hatred against this man when you read the story? I was, for sure. Suppose the man was really innocent, how many of us are going to believe that? Even if he is declared innocent by the court, people will think, “Amir aadmi hoga saala, paise khila diya hoga.” Just think how his life going to change. People will despise him, women would run from half a mile of spotting him. He would have a stigma his entire life.
Since reading the story, my greatest fear is suppose if I refuse to pay for my girlfriend’s jewellery and she goes to police tomorrow and tells them I tried to rape her, what chance would I stand to prove my innocence? Who’s gonna believe “ABM’s such a gentle guy; he would never harm even a mosquito”? (OK I know few people will, but then few people even believe Mannu Sharma is innocent, point is, it doesn’t matter if people on my side are FEW). The Indian society is slowly changing into one where such people are loathed upon for eternity, the public voices their sentiments voraciously against them (which are positive changes) and even the courts are under pressure to give verdict against them (which is not). I can imagine thousands of people leading a march in India Gate and lighting millions of candles and shouting slogans like “Hang that bastard ABM”. I would have no option but to curse the day I refused her to pay for the fucking jewellery she bought, as the “jallad” is putting a black cloth over my head.
Few people (read women) would argue a woman would never do such a thing, put her “izzat” into stake. But even women are humans (perhaps) and can be greedy and jealous too. With the modernization of our society such old notions like no woman puts her modesty at stake are getting a backseat. Which means modern women are capable of such a thing, if they have to, perhaps for some worldly gain, in the same manner a corrupted official misuses his powers. So my fellow brothers, beware! I’ve done my duty as a responsible male. It’s your turn now to think about the matter.

u know i myself have thot on such lines.. most probably because of the tv serials dat my mom watches and i have to perforce c those during my meals.. and there they show gals marrying someone just to divorce a week later (for financial benefit ofcourse). and according to Shakespeare (i think) drama and literature are the mirror of the contemporary generation. such things actually do happen. but the sympathies are heavily on the side of the victim in all these cases... or supposedly the victim. the sympathy is usually with the person wit less power, physically or u cud say visually. its lyk the sympathies of a crowd in a tennis match is usually with the underdog and they cheer for him. when i drive my car my parents keep telling me to be careful coz if i hit a scooterist, then even if the fault lies with the scooterist, the entire crowd wud lyk to bury me 50 metres under the earth instantly.. so, its lyk dis ;)
AGREED......but
@ABM- I doubt it that any woman would put her 'izzat' on stake just because of jewellery.....but ya there could be some other reason.....( what I mean is your line of thinking is impressive but the reason behind is not good enough).......
@Adi- never think on such lines on the basis of T.V serials......its not justifiable [:)].
no boss, such things do happen. we see it all around us. dont we find gals who act bitchy now?? why do u think they wil change later on?? ideas dont just crop up in the head lyk dat. seeds are sown all around us. we c dem, and dey den come out in the characters we show in da tv serials or the movies..
@Adi
ha ha ha ha ha.....don't tell me saas bahu bitching you have experienced in real life.......actually if you are developing your line of thought based on those T.V. serials than you are no different from those fools who actually follow them in their real life.....[:P]
not saas bahu. but bitching on a different level, in a different way, which i believe very well has the tendency to go in that direction. dont u hear of young woman marrying really really old persons coz dey know dat dey wud soon pass away leaving all dere property for dem? such things are depicted in dese moronic serials. i know a lot of da rona dhona is crap but well da bitching part, it does happen.. and u know dat really well from my experience dont u :)
Forget saas-bahu serials, here is something from the real life: Anna Nicole Smith married an oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall who was 90 YEARS OLD. The poor guy died just a year later. Perhaps Anna gave him a hard time in the bedroom... Anyway, she was still fighting for her share of $500 million when she died.
Now why else would somebody marry someone the age of her grandfather?
That was in support of Ady.
The point I wanted to tell was that women misuse their "powers" just as a corrupted official misuses his powers.
@Hemu- Yaar that was to make it funny, but tell you what, kutch bhi ho sakta hai. Read this:

abey how do you knw Anna did it for money [:P]...maybe use bhude se pyar ho gaya ho.......havent you heard
"Love is blind" [:P]
Crime psychology is extremely complicated. Stereotyping it by genders is the biggest mistake law can make. And Hemu, we may not know upto what extent a woman's mind works. Read apublicdiary.blogspot.com for that
@adi
Have you considered the possibility that after being primed by the TV serials, people TURN INTO bitches? When they see that vamps are stylish, sexy and get the best lines, they are psychologically motivated into thinking in that direction. In fact bitches are deliberately placed in serials so that Indian women can waste their bile by vilely abusing them.
Your naive assumption that TV serials are inspired from real life is laughable considering what kind of mediocre minds go into their making.
well da same mediocre minds who see such things around produce such things on tv! i perfectly agree dat things shown on tv and in cinema also inspire real lyf drama.. but u think about it urself, is it easier to show wat doesnt happen or is it easier to show wat does? and considering dat da minds of da ppl who make dese serials are mediocre, which u urself agreed upon, what do u expect dem to make?
Right..mediocre.
What gives me immense pain is that last year Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms had profits of about 200 crores. India mein kya itne mediocre ladies hai ki one makes so much money by making these dumb serials? Fuck..
Arey to wahi baat hui na! Ekta musta watched past serials on the TV, pledged to make them whackier and bitchier so that people would like them. She only shows what people want to WATCH on TV. Matlab slowly down the years the thing has so far stretched from reality that it doesn't feel real in any sense!
@Ady: Wake up boy! Where the hell in India do you see a women marrying 3 men, killing a son, slapping everyone in the house, sending everyone to jail, being in and out so often and still being called ghar ki izzat??? Where do you see people coming back from the dead after 5 or 10 years!.. Tv serials show reality??? You must reaaaaally be kidding.
@ABM : Before arresting you the police will medically examine your girlfriend like the lady in the incident was. In the above incident physical abuse and rape was confirmed by the police.
Though I agree what you said might be true in some rare cases. But even such cases get equal media attention (if u read some days ago about the couple fron ambala living in US)
@NISHI -> ARREY BABA NEVER TALKED ABOUT RECREATING THOSE THINGS WHICH OCCUR IN SERIALS BUT AM TALKING ABOUT THE THOUGHT PROCESS THAT THEY SHOW. NOT TALKING ABOUT ACTIONS, BUT ITS MORE TO DO WITH THE EXTENT OF BITCIHNESS THAT THEY SHOW!! ITS HORRIBLE
